Dear PASC members,
PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO THOSE IN CHARGE OF IEC AND IEC/TC111 IN YOUR RESPECTIVE COUNTRY.
I received the letter as attached from Dr. Yoshiaki Ichikawa who is the leader of PASC Pilot Project on IEC/TC111.
Ad hoc working group 5 (Greenhouse Gasses) in IEC/TC111 has discussed on how we tackle with GHG (green-house gas) issues in electrical and electronic sector and they circulated the document with respect to possible two new work items in TC111 with the deadline of 1st October 2010.
The two new work items are as follows;
- Quantification methodology of CO2e emission for electrical and electronic products and systems
- Quantification methodology of CO2e emission reduction for electrical and electronic products and systems from the project baseline
They would like to request you to provide positive feedback to the document and support for the two proposed new work items in IEC/TC111 plenary meeting on 14 October in Seattle (USA).

Abstract:
Dear PASC members,
Attached please find a zipped folder of revised and additional documents from
PASC33, which had been revised or added after the "final batch" upload of 25
May 2010. There are also documents from absent members. In this folder there are 13 documents
(including the new agenda file "N8b").
The following is the procedure to complete and keep "the really final PASC33 documents" folder.
1. You should first download the zipped folder and extract the contents
into a folder, which should (automatically) be named
"Revised_and_additional",
2. Then select all the documents which are located
in this "Revised_and_additional" and copy/paste them into the zipped folder
"20100524Documents_for_PASC33", which was uploaded on 25 May 2010 as "final
batch" before the PASC 33 meeting.
3. Then please open file PASC 33 agenda
"00_N8b_DRAFT_AGENDA_PASC_33.doc" and click the hyperlinks to open all the
other files.
4. This operation will enable you to activate the document links in the new
agenda to function properly on all documents.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you encounter any problems.

Abstract:
Dear PASC members,
Please find attached the draft agenda and relevant documents (three zipped folders) for the PASC 33 meeting which is scheduled to take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 29-30 May. This will be "the last" batch to be distributed before the meeting.
In the first zipped folder"20100524Documents_for_PASC33.zip", a total of 12 documents are included (including the draft agenda). Then, separately, the second zipped folder"item12-item16.zip", including a total of 15 documents, and the third zipped folder"item18-item23.zip", including a total of 24 documents,will follow the first zipped folder "20100524Documents_for_PASC33.zip".
You should first download the zipped folder and extract the contents into a folder for each of the three zipped folders.
Secondly, you should move the contents of the folder coming from the second and third zipped folders "item12-item16.zip"and "item18-item23.zip" into the folder coming from the first zipped folder "20100524Documents_for_PASC33.zip" and unify to make one folder named 20100524Documents_for_PASC33". Please make sure that you should not change the folder name "20100524Documents_for_PASC33" to enable the documents links to function properly.
You should begin by opening the file "00_N8a_DRAFT_AGENDA_PASC_33.doc" and click the hyperlinks to open other files. Please note that PASC is a paperless meeting and all delegates will need to download the files from the PASC website.

(1) Registration
For registration (including accompanying persons, if any), please kindly

* You are cordially invited by PASC to events from 28 to 31 May appearing
on the above website, except for the PASC Executive Committee meeting
(Monday 31 May).
Please note that the PASC Executive Committee meeting (Monday 31 May) is a
closed meeting and is for PASC EC members only.
* Please note that the Workshop on Technical regulation and the role of
standards (Friday 28 May) will be organized by MASM (Mongolia), not PASC.
(2) Accomodation
With regard to accommodation, I would like you to select and reserve your
accommodation by yourself. It is suggested that you could find detailed
booking reference of each recommended hotel in the attachment.

Abstract:
Dear PASC members,
Please find the updated draft agenda for the PASC 33 meeting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
I have updated mainly on the following points:
- time allocations for each presentation,
- speakers' names incorporated based on inputs from Members,
- sponsoring countries for each break/lunch time.
Regarding the time allocations, it would be appreciated if PASC members could share the information on time allocations with the speakers in respective countries.
Regarding the speakers' names, I urge those members who have not yet confirmed to provide me the names no later than the end of April.
Regarding the sponsoring countries, one spot ($780) on 30 May is still available. Please let me know if any member has willingness to sponsor this event.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the deadline for submission of presentation materials is the end of April.

Dear PASC members.
As you may know, PASC has offered its support for a APEC SCSCfs activity to conduct a survey on participation of business/industry in the national and international technical committees (TCs) and Sub-committees (SCs) for standardization@in recent two years. This is the third round of such survey, first done in 2008, and also delegated from APEC SCSC this year.
All of the PASC members are kindly requested to complete the attached questionnaire and submit it
(Where) - to the PASC Secretary at pasc@meti.go.jp
(When) - by 20 May 2010.
Kindly refer to the cover page of attachment for information (background and objective) of this survey. Cooperative interaction with business/industry in both national and international standardization activities has been considered as one of the priorities of the SCSC as well as the PASC as you recall; and results of the survey will be shared and utilised to further facilitate such interaction and cooperation between standardization bodies and business/industry sectors both in the SCSC and the PASC. Please note that the questionnaire is separated into four excel sheets for ISO, IEC, JTC1 and NSB topics.

Abstract:
Dear PASC members,
Having consulted with PASC members by correspondence for two weeks, I am pleased
to inform you that the PASC pilot project on ISO/TC 22 (Road Vehicles) proposed by
JISC is now approved as a new project without any objections.
As I have already informed you, the leader of this Pilot Project, Mr Ishimaru plans the
following ways of cooperation amongst PASC members:
(1) Information exchange on ISO/TC22 among PASC member countries
(2) Host joint Seminars / Course of study
(3) Hold online meeting / phone meeting / face to face meeting prior to TC22 or SCs
(4) Joint technical efforts to develop draft standards.
I would like to ask PASC members to
(1) forward this letter to those who are in charge of ISO/TC 22 in your respective
countries, to find out the contact point(s) of national expert(s) if interested in
participating in this project, and
(2) let me, PASC Secretary (pasc@meti.go.jp), know the information of such contact
point(s) (name / affiliation/email address/telephone number) so that Mr Ishimaru will
put forward his proposed project,
no later than 10th May 2010.
