Abstract:
STAMEQ regrets to advise that due to the concern of many PASC members and travel restrictions in some countries that we are postponing PASC XXVI.
We think that this course of action is prudent given the news from the region about the SARS outbreak, and concerns expressed to us by several PASC members.
We hope that you will be able to reschedule your travel plans and suggest that PASC XXVI be rescheduled for August 2003 to be held immediately after APEC SCSC III.

To assist economies in the Pacific Area region, including Pacific Island countries, PASC XXV requests that PASC SC consider the development of a Guide(s), Brochure(s), or similar means of communication, to address the following:
- a model for the development of possible Standards and Conformance Infrastructure(s) for small and developing economies that takes into account the principles of cost effectiveness, suitability for the country, linkages to regional and international arrangements, and is based on a progressive or staged approach;
- overview of the benefits of consumer participation at a national level in standards development and of the further involvement of consumers and business in the standardization and conformance infrastructure
