It is useful to compress files for transmission across the Internet. A smaller file
size means a shorter download time. There are a number of compression utilities for
different operating systems. A Windows version called Winzip can be obtained from
http://www.winzip.com/.
The software is interoperable with other utilities such as tar,
gzip, and lhc. A DOS version of zip called PKZIP
is available from ftp://ftp.pkware.com/pub/pkware/pkz204g.exe.
Version 2.04g is the version in most common use today.
Following is instructions for opening up ZIP files on Windows 95, 98 or NT.
